Welcoming 2026 in Style
Our community rang in the new year with tremendous spirit at our New Year’s Eve Party, where residents, families and staff came together for an unforgettable celebration. Local performer Taylah Trew had everyone singing along, creating the perfect atmosphere to farewell 2025 and welcome fresh possibilities for the year ahead. The evening went off with a bang, and the joy on everyone’s faces reminded us why these shared moments matter so deeply.
Staying Cool Through the Heat
While temperatures soared outside, our residents remained comfortable and cool throughout January. The air conditioning worked overtime to keep everyone comfortable, whilst icy poles, milkshakes and plenty of cold drinks provided additional relief from the summer heat. These simple pleasures, combined with games, conversations with friends and relaxing music, made even the hottest days enjoyable at Cumberland View Aged Care.
Magic and Laughter Fill Our Days
Laughter echoed through our halls when Max the Magician visited Cumberland View Aged Care Living. Max amazed residents with his incredible tricks, leaving everyone wondering “How did you do that?” His cheeky response of “Very well” had the room in stitches. The hilarious magic show became an instant highlight of the month, sparking conversations and smiles that lasted well beyond the performance itself.
A Symphony of Musical Moments
Music has been the heartbeat of January at Cumberland View Aged Care. Our residents enjoyed an extraordinary variety of performances throughout the month. Steph Renouf kicked off one wonderful week with a fabulous sing-along that had voices harmonising and memories flowing. Jack the Music Man, Laura, Ben, Barouch and Susan each brought their unique talents to our community, filling our days with melodies that lifted spirits and brought people together.
Laurel McKenna’s sing-along sessions proved particularly popular, with residents eagerly gathering to join in with familiar tunes that sparked nostalgia and joy.
Exploring Beyond Our Walls
Adventure called when residents boarded the scenic bus for a delightful trip to the beach. The outing provided a refreshing change of scenery and the chance to feel the sea breeze and soak in the coastal atmosphere. These excursions remind us that life at Cumberland View Aged Care extends beyond our comfortable facilities—we’re connected to the wider world and the beauty of our local area.
Celebrating Australian Spirit
We honoured the Australia Day long weekend with an Aussie Happy Hour that brought out the larrikin in everyone. It was a fitting tribute to our national spirit and a wonderful opportunity for residents to relax and connect over shared heritage and good company.
Choice and Engagement Every Day
What truly sets Cumberland View Aged Care Living apart is the breadth of choice we offer our residents. Throughout January, people happily selected from an impressive array of activities tailored to diverse interests and abilities.
Chair Tai Chi with Chris provided gentle movement and mindfulness for those seeking physical wellbeing. Carpet Bowls brought out everyone’s competitive streak in a friendly, supportive environment. The Coffee Bus Trip combined two favourite things—quality coffee and community outings. Our Craft Group allowed creative expression to flourish, whilst Book Club encouraged literary discussion and intellectual engagement. Cooking activities filled our kitchen with delicious aromas and gave residents hands-on involvement in preparing treats.
This variety ensures that whether someone seeks physical activity, creative expression, intellectual stimulation or social connection, there’s always something meaningful to choose from at Cumberland View Aged Care.
