Empowering Residents Through Knowledge: Elder Rights Advocacy Visit Recap
Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Briony from the Elder Rights Advocacy team. Briony provided our residents with crucial information on their rights and the support available to them. Her presentation was both informative and engaging, ensuring that everyone left with a better understanding of the resources and protections they are entitled to.
Key Points from the Presentation:
Understanding Elder Rights: Briony emphasized the importance of knowing one’s rights in aged care settings. Elder Rights Advocacy promotes the human rights of all older Victorians to receive safe, quality aged care.
Support Services: Elder Rights Advocacy offers free, confidential, and independent support to people seeking access to or using residential or in-home aged care services.
Addressing Issues: The organization helps older people, their families, and representatives address issues related to Commonwealth-funded aged care services.
Community Engagement: Elder Rights Advocacy also provides education sessions and community visitor programs to enhance social support and awareness.
Aged Care: Outlining how to access aged care assistance and how it works.
Our residents shared positive feedback about the presentation, expressing that they found it very informative and appreciated the opportunity to ask Briony questions.
They also enjoyed a hot beverage afterward, which added to the pleasant experience.
We are grateful for Briony’s visit and the valuable insights she shared. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to learn more about elder rights and advocacy.
