June Highlights at Cumberland View Aged Care
June brought crisp mornings and cool evenings, but inside Cumberland View, the atmosphere was anything but chilly. Our residents brought warmth and enthusiasm to every day, making the most of a full calendar of events and shared experiences.
We started the month with a visit from our four-legged friend Gelu, whose calming presence always brings a sense of ease and delight. Residents were all smiles as they enjoyed time with our favourite therapy dog.
Music remained a favourite throughout June. John Bevilacqua from Los Amigos treated us to an Italian concert full of familiar tunes and cheerful rhythm. We also welcomed performers Alex Matthews, Jack the Music Man, Margaret Dennis, and The Golden Girls, each adding their own spark to the week.
In honour of King Charles’s birthday, we hosted a proper royal afternoon; complete with laughter, stories and celebration. Our kitchens were equally lively, with red velvet cupcakes baked by residents themselves, and a sweet meringue session topped with cream and berries that was as much fun to make as it was to eat.
As part of our cultural cuisine program, we took a culinary trip to Germany, enjoying hearty flavours and conversations sparked by travel memories and family recipes.
A standout moment this month was the visit from Caulfield Grammar students. Their songs and warm chats created a lovely atmosphere; proof that age is no barrier to meaningful exchanges.
We also held a welcome tea for our newest residents, giving everyone a chance to mingle and share stories. And of course, favourites like bingo, carpet bowls, book club, craft, and gentle movement classes kept everyone active and engaged throughout the month.
Life at Cumberland View is full of purpose and spirit. Every day is shaped by companionship, creativity, and the simple pleasure of being part of something special.
