Elegant Mother’s Day High Tea and Ballet Delight at Cumberland View Retirement Living

On Friday 16 May, Cumberland View Retirement Living hosted a truly unforgettable belated Mother’s Day celebration, bringing joy, connection, and culture to the heart of our vibrant Wheelers Hill community.

Held in our beautifully decorated community space, the event treated residents to an afternoon of sweet treats, sparkling bubbles, and delightful entertainment. It was a special opportunity to recognise the wonderful women who make up our close-knit community and ensure they felt celebrated, cherished, and deeply appreciated.

The highlight of the afternoon was a breathtaking ballet performance from the talented senior dancers of Ringwood Ballet Group Inc., a not-for-profit community organisation established in 1961. Dancers Anabelle, Odelia, and Emily captivated everyone with their grace and artistry, each performing two stunning pieces in styles ranging from classical to contemporary.

Beyond their performance, these generous young women engaged with residents, taking the time to chat, share stories, and pose for photos. A particularly touching moment came when one of our residents, herself a former dancer, lit up as she exchanged memories and dance terminology with a performer – a beautiful intergenerational connection that summed up the spirit of the day.

“This was truly beautiful – I felt like royalty with the high tea and ballet,” shared one resident. Another expressed how deeply moved she was by the event, saying, “I was lost for words at how important I felt – it was just so special.”
