Our care to you at Cumberland View

At Cumberland View Retirement Village, we pride ourselves on having a high-level continuum of care, personalised to each unique individual. With our registered nurse available on-site, residents have access to professional medical care, right at their doorstep.

Our Health and Welfare Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4.30 pm and our nurse is on-site during those hours. We offer blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and other general health monitoring, dressings and wound care, health care advice, as well as emergency assistance in residents’ homes, all at no additional cost to residents.

 

For residents, Angus and Cathie Sloane, having a registered nurse available to them was a considerable factor when choosing to move into Cumberland View Retirement Village.

‘The fact that the nurses are available five days a week, to assist us with our medical needs, either in their office or in our own home, and at no additional cost is an exceptional service,’ said Angus. ‘The nurses always provide wonderful hospital care, making sure that all our post operative needs are met. I have found comfort in the personal and professional support, afforded to me by the nurses, throughout my life here at Cumberland View.’

Cathie, a retired registered nurse, said that the provision of this service is exceptional in a retirement village as no other village offers a service like this without the additional cost.

‘Coming into the village at 69 years, and both in good health, we did not have an immediate need for their services, but our decision to choose Cumberland View has proved correct, because as we have aged, our need for nursing care has increased,’ said Angus. ‘The nurses always make contact to check on my health and wellbeing’ and ‘they continue to follow up contact until such time they are satisfied I am comfortable,’ he said.

At Cumberland View, we also refer to and work with various external healthcare services including audiology, physiotherapy, massage, counselling, and podiatry as well as accommodating a GP clinic four days per fortnight. We also offer an equipment hire service to assist with the changing needs of residents.
