Rollicking Revue Review
For 16 years the Cumberland View Retirement Village Annual Revue has been a much loved highlight of the calendar.
The 2016 Revue boasted a cast of 31 "shy and retiring" residents and staff with ages ranging from 28 to 90+. There's no denying it's a lot of work, but hugely rewarding in terms of fun and camaraderie.
The theme was "Stage and Screen" and the tributes ranged from Oklahoma to Jesus Christ Superstar. The costumes and performances were dazzling. Although the Revue is designed to entertain residents, family and friends of the cast enjoyed the organised chaos that is the Dress Rehearsal!
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, a nominated charity is the beneficiary of the Revue. In 2015 over $500 was raised for Cystic Fibrosis, and in 2016 $688 was raised for The Florey Institute. This is the largest brain research centre in Australia, undertaking research into Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis and Stroke all of which impact someone we know.
The Revue is a wonderful tradition with a big heart and I trust it will be around for many years to come. A big thank you to all the participants.
